We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our team to help support, encourage and enable our members to get the most out of their time at club – and to ensure their safety at all times. Ideally, support workers will have an NVQ Level 2 in Children’s Care, Learning & Development, or equivalent although this is not essential. Previous experience of working in a similar setting would also be desirable but again is not essential.
We are open on Saturdays and for an additional three days during school holidays - support workers work from 9.30 a.m. until 4.30 p.m. Staff are able to pick the sessions that they are able to work within a 4 month period at a time. Main responsibilities are:
- to work with both individuals and groups of children and young people under the direction of the play leader.
- to supervise the activities of individuals or groups of members to ensure their safety and support their physical and emotional needs.
- to attend to members’ general welfare - personal needs and personal hygiene
- To work in a flexible manner as a team member with other staff, showing appropriate initiative and assuming responsibility for a range of activities as required, including the preparation and disposal of resources and equipment.
- To be physically able and willing to undertake manual handling tasks with suitable training, e.g. toileting and transferring children to and from wheelchairs.
- To be willing to undertake personal development training courses.
