We get by with a little help from our friends…

Every single one of our volunteers helps us provide outstanding care and support to the community of North Devon who are impacted by a life limiting illness. We really value the time all our volunteers give to us, and you will be making a real difference to the wellbeing of our clinical staff who are caring for our patients and their families.

Would you like to help support the hospice staff, who work on the bedded unit and in the community. This exciting new role offers the opportunity to be part of a committed professional team and make a genuine contribution to the wellbeing of the staff who are supporting patients under the care of North Devon Hospice. This role would be suitable for those with a background in chaplaincy, counselling, pastoral care, or anyone with knowledge and understanding of the spiritual care needs within the palliative care environment.

Our aim is to provide staff with access to support three times a week. The expectation would be up to three hours per attendance therefore, we require a commitment to offer a minimum of three hours per week.
You will be required to take part in group support sessions along with the occasional 1:1 support. This will focus on debriefing and wellbeing support for staff. You will be required to adhere to Hospice Policies and procedures and understand the BACP ethical framework.

If you would like to find out more information, please call Vicky McDonald, Deputy Clinical Team Lead, Bedded Unit or Abi Daley, Community Palliative Care Deputy Team Lead, CNS on 01271 344248.

Closing date: Wednesday 6th May 2026
Interview date: Thursday 14th May 2026

Please note - an Enhanced DBS will be required along with two character references upon your successful application.
