The South Hams Literary festival is a project of the South Hams Authors Network. This time we are planning a more streamlined approach but still with something for everyone. As always, this aims to celebrate the local authors of the South Hams and provide fun for all the community.
This year the festival will be held mostly in the Watermark Centre on one main day, with a few other free events in other venues.
The main festival date is Saturday October 12th.
On Friday 11th in the early evening there will be a launch event at the Ivybridge Bookshop which will be free to attend. There will also be a free childrens event in the library.
On the Saturday we will run a free children’s event in the bookshop, with local children’s authors.
In the Watermark during Saturday, we will be using Stowford Hall for a writers’ advice forum in the morning, with a book fair in the afternoon. There will also be a fun book trail. In the Beeson Suite we will have two writing workshops in the morning and two author discussions for keen book readers in the afternoon. By keeping the morning mainly for aspiring writers and the afternoon for readers we hope to please everyone.
There will also be an ‘open mic’ event on the Sunday at a local venue, and a fun book quiz.
