South West Blood Bikes is a small local charity that delivers blood and other urgent medical items to hospitals and other healthcare facilities out of hours. The charity is run entirely by volunteers and relies on donations from individuals, corporations, and other organisations to cover its operational costs.
Our small local charity is seeking a social media assistant. This role involves working under the direction of our Social Media Lead, publicising the charity through all of the Social Media Channels that we have, to promote the work not only of this charity, but of the Blood Bike movement in general.
Responsibilities
Liaising with the teams to understand what work they are doing and encouraging them to share pictures and information that may be of interest so that we have quality content which we can turn into engaging social media posts, which keep those who support our work informed about the difference that we make in the community.
Publicising events that we are at, and also preparing (with others) the end of month statistics which are then shared on all of our social media feeds.
Designing and publishing to social media various requirements such as appeals for volunteers, and adverts for things that we want our user base to help with, such as using Easyfundraising, supporting us with votes for the Benevolent Group or other similar funders.
Receiving incoming messages through our Social Media channels, and ensuring that these are dealt with promptly, either by responding directly to these, or passing them on to the relevant Team Leader to take forwards.
Essential Skills
Basic IT Skills
A good understanding of the most popular social media platforms
Able to write engaging content which will help to build our social media presence
A good level of literacy and numeracy
Experience of working with Volunteers in a Charity
Desirable Skills
Experience using CANVA or other similar graphics packages
Ability to manipulate images using Photoshop or similar
Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small local charity and make a meaningful contribution to our mission to support the NHS and Hospices. The successful candidate will be an essential part of our team, helping to share the good works that our volunteers do, and hopefully engaging potential sponsors to help us by donating to our cause.
You may not be riding a Blood Bike, or driving one of our Blood cars, but publicising the work that we do is a vital role within our charity and is every bit as important as our “operational” roles out on the road.
