What will you be doing?
Our volunteers support people on probation to achieve specific goals, improve their wellbeing and build a better future.
*Building the confidence of our participants with their reading and writing skills,
*Support with housing needs such as budgeting or searching for properties,
*Helping them to explore employment options,
*Addressing issues like social isolation,
*Assisting with their to access support agencies,
*Working with those who have been victims of crime themselves,
*Increasing their sense of self worth,
*Supporting reintegration into the community
You will also receive appropriate background information about the participant and any associated risk information.
Qualities and skills:
*Effective listening and communication with others
*Reliability- to keep to commitments and/or appointments
*Use of your own initiative to identify and access relevant resources
*An ability to share information appropriately within the boundaries of confidentiality and maintain a professional relationship.
*A demonstration of positive behaviour, providing a good role model to participants through pro-social modelling
*Non-judgmental, open minded and self-aware
*Knowledge of basic IT skills
*An ability to encourage and allow people to make their own choices and decisions
