We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our team to help support, encourage and enable our members to get the most out of their time at club – and to ensure their safety at all times. Assistant Play Leaders must be working towards NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning & Development or equivalent and be willing to undertake additional training for example in Moving and Handling, PIPS, Food hygiene, Safeguarding and Child protection.
We are open on Saturdays and for an additional three days during school holidays - assistant play leaders work from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The main responsibilities, under the supervision of a play leader, are to:
- Lead and oversee teams of staff working with both individuals and groups of children to ensure best practice is adhered to in all areas.
- Plan the group’s day, including managing staff lunch breaks, activities for groups of children or individuals, prepare resources and equipment as necessary and delegate any jobs to support staff.
- Liaise with Play Leaders, Club Manager and parents/carers regarding any areas of concern for individual children
- Have good communication skills with both staff and club members and promote ‘total communication’- using speech, sign language/makaton, P.E.C.S symbols, photos and objects of reference (training will be given as necessary)
