Our new NSPCC service, Building Connections, is looking for Volunteer Befrienders to join our team. This online service empowers young people to tackle loneliness and has been developed to help young people cope. To apply for this role please click here.
This is a ‘volunteer from home’ service that supports children and young people who are experiencing loneliness.
As a Volunteer Befriender you will be matched with a young person, online through a text-based messaging service to support them to develop skills to manage their emotions around loneliness, build their confidence, self-esteem and support them to find new ways to cope. You will be part of a team, making a difference to the lives of children and young people.
You will volunteer from home in a private space, and be given full training & support by our team of Befriending Coordinators who will also provide regular supervisions and group sessions for learning and development. Additionally our befriending coordinators will celebrate your milestones and introduce you to the volunteer hub where you will have access to discussion groups, see all of the opportunities available, including voluntary and paid positions and have access to a wide range of online learning opportunities.
After 1 year of volunteering, we can provide references for employers.
