NDVS and TTVS would like to develop a bank of volunteers who would be able to offer small amounts of time to offer 'Acts of Kindness' in their community. The Voluntary and Community Sector have also been asked to support the 'Settle at Home' project where people discharged from the hospital are offered 3 visits to support them settle back at home.
This support may help someone in the first few days/weeks of being back in their own home or may help to brighten someones life in these darker months.
These are examples of some of the tasks we may ask our Acts of Kindness volunteers to undertake:
- Giving a lift/ offering transport
- Befrending or offering company
- Picking up shopping or prescriptions
- Tidying an unruly garden
- Taking a walk and acompaning someone
- Becoming an advocate and representing a charity
- Being planet friendly and tending to outdoor community spaces
- Sharing your skills to help others
It can be as simple as going on a walk with someone so they dont feel as lonely to picking up soem basic supplies and making sure the heating is on when someone is first discharged from hospital.
You will not be committed to the same day and time each week but will be part of our bank to call upon in times of need.
We will offer a training day and ongoing support for the work you do plus any expenses incurred.
Youth volunteers very welcome as you can add this community support work to your C.V.
