Are you retired or semi-retired and looking for a way of using your skills for the benefit of others?
Torbay u3a is one of over a thousand local branches of the u3a, an organisation for retired and semi-retired people run by its members, which provides social events and local interest groups for its members. Our local Torbay u3a has over 350 members and 40 interest groups incluing science, walking, crafts, lunch club and coffee mornings, languages, writing, art history - you can see the full list on our website : https://u3asites.org.uk/torbay/groups
Our organisation needs people with skills (computer skills, people skills, life skills) to keep Torbay u3a going. Our Committee comprises various roles : a Speaker finder, Membership secretary, New Members' Secretary, Secretary, Website Manager, Treasurer, Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Welfare Officer, Newsletter Editor and Groups Co-ordinator. We need more people to share the work involved in keeping our local u3a thriving and providing social and learning opportunities for retired people in our community.
In addition, we are always looking for people with an interest that they would like to share with others by forming an interest group. Our Groups Co-ordinator can provide help and support in setting up and running a group. Groups can be about virtually any interest, provided they are approved by our Committee. Groups can meet in public venues, outdoors, in village halls, pubs or hotels, or by arrangement at members' homes.
To become part of Torbay u3a, it costs only £10 a year. From 1st August 2023, a half-year membership to the end of the year costs only £5. Details of how to join can be found on our website : https://u3asites.org.uk/torbay/page/92981
