As a Digital Inclusion volunteer you could provide practical support in getting older people online
What do Digital Inclusion volunteers do?
Our IT volunteers can help in a number of ways:
- provide one-to-one guidance and mentoring to help people get the most out of their smartphones, tablets or laptops - either over the phone, or by arranged appointment at our office
- help people with the set up of their Wi-Fi and related technology
- Become a Digital Champion on U Connect and remotely support people to use the platform
What you will get out of it
- It's a great way to help older people stay independent
- You'll be giving something to your community
- Help clients to stay in touch with friends and family
- Volunteering helps your mental wellbeing and can reduce stress and anxiety
What is expected of me?
There will be an informal interview, and we will require references and a DBS check.
A huge amount of technical knowledge is not required, as long as you use computers and technology fairly frequently, you should have more than enough experience.
