We understand how distressing falling victim to a scam can be with the impact often being emotional as well as financial. Our Scams Awareness Service aims to equip older people with the knowledge and understanding of scams, to reduce the risk of falling victim. We can also provide support to those who have been scammed.
How we can help
Anyone can fall victim to a scam. As criminals use more sophisticated techniques more older people are being caught out. Our specially trained staff can guide you on how to spot different types of scams, how to avoid them and what to do if you do unfortunately get scammed.
We can provide:
- one to one advice sessions for those over 50 who are worried about being scammed, have been scammed and/or would like advice to avoid them in the future.
- presentations and talks to raise awareness of scams to organisations who support older people such as community groups, social groups and sheltered housing.
