Rape Crisis South London (RASASC) runs in partnership with Rape Crisis England and Wales the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line. This is a 24 hour helpline, providing confidential emotional support for anyone aged 16 and over who has experienced any form of sexual violence or abuse.
Volunteers play a vital role in supporting this service through providing telephone support and information to callers on the helpline. This includes survivors of sexual violence, family/friends/partners of survivors and other professionals.
Before starting on the helpline, we provide all our volunteers with an accredited training course from the Open College Network. The course is divided into three units; counselling skills, issues for survivors and personal developement. Our training will cover everything you need for volunteering on the helpline so no prior experience or knowledge is necessary. The course will be delivered online.
We offer all our volunteers support throughout the training and whilst volunteering with us. This includes a mentor, clinical supervision and well being sessions. Please refer to the attached documents to see more about our commitment to volunteers. You will also find attached the role description, person specification, helpline profile and information about the training. If you would like to apply, please complete the application form and return this to the email address at the bottom of the form.
The post is open to female applicants only as the role is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010. The role and training are both offered as remote working.
