Handy Person Gardening Volunteer
Yes! Brixham are looking for volunteers to help us deliver the Handy Person arm of the Staying Put project, which aims to support people over 50 stay in their homes for longer, by helping them to maintain their homes and carry out small DIY tasks which they otherwise might not be able to do.
We are looking for friendly, trustworthy volunteers with green fingers to help people in their neighbourhood to maintain their gardens. Tasks include mowing lawns and cutting hedges. Training will be provided.
We are looking for volunteers who are
- Friendly and trustworthy,
- Good at gardening
- Respectful of people’s homes
- Able to work in teams
- Have an understanding of Health and Safety
- Are able to commit to volunteer on an agreed day and time
- Willing to undertake training & a DBS check
Time Commitment:
We are looking for volunteers who are available during weekdays to join a volunteer bank that can be called on when their skills are needed. This is a very flexible role and you can volunteer as much or as little as you like, we ask that you let us knows what days you are available on and we will let you know in advance what jobs are booked. Jobs will be arranged on an irregular basis Monday to Friday, and will last no more than two hours. Volunteers will only ever work in pairs.
Volunteers will be supported by the Staying Put Project Officer.
