General volunteers receive full training (usually 3 online sessions via Zoom) and supervision so that you can be confident and supported in any given situation. The role of the general volunteer is to attend an Early Nourishment drop-in group and assist the member of staff running the group by helping to set up, welcoming families, making hot drinks, and tidying away at the end of the session.
The weekly drop-in groups are:
Monday - Barnstaple 10.30AM
Tuesday - Ilfracombe 10.30AM
Wednesday - Bideford 10AM
Thursday - Torrington 10AM / Braunton 1PM
Friday - Holsworthy 10AM / South Molton 10.30AM
We would require a minimum commitment of one session per month with the location and date to suit you and of course you could volunteer more regularly or at multiple locations if you would like. We can reimburse your mileage for your travel to and from the drop-in group. You are welcome to bring your children aged 5 and under with you.
Some benefits of volunteering with Early Nourishment include becoming part of a supportive and empowering network of women, full training, the chance to develop skills such as active listening, and increased confidence. Some of our volunteers have also found it useful in preparation for returning to work via the skills and experience they gain while volunteering with us.
We practice safer recruitment procedures.
