| Role summary | Buggy drivers are the Formula 1 stars of National Trust – just with a bit less speed! They help visitors who might struggle to get to and from the car park and around the garden, as some of our historic places weren’t built to be pedestrian-friendly! |
| What's involved? | Making visitors feel welcome throughout their visit. Knowing your way around the property, particularly the garden, where you can help them to enjoy the incredible range of plants and trees from the comfort of the buggy. Taking care of the people that use your buggy, driving it well and helping them on and off. Making sure that the buggy is safe to use, and plugging in electric models to re-charge at the end of the day. You are important in making sure things run as smoothly and safely as possible – this includes getting to know health and safety and evacuation procedures. There might occasionally be some other activities that are of interest to you, that we could use your help with. · Being part of a team that may need to adapt and change in response to local needs, National Trust priorities or changes to government guidelines e.g .Covid We want all our volunteers to feel welcome and to have an equally positive experience when volunteering with us. So, volunteers will: Be provided ongoing support from our Growing Support Consultants. Be provided the necessary induction, training, equipment and reasonable adjustments to do this role well and safely. Be offered expenses to cover agreed travel costs between home and place of volunteering. Have remote access to support, news and rotas via our volunteer website. |
| This role will suit you if you are... | The proud owner of a full clean driving licence Someone who likes being outside, even when it’s a bit chilly! Keen to make people feel welcome Practical – you’ll be taking care of the buggy as well as your passengers Able to be flexible with your time. All National Trust volunteers will be asked to Respect and uphold the National Trust values whilst volunteering with us. · Complete training required of all NT volunteers and any role specific training. · Adhere to relevant policies and processes including safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity. |
