We are very excited to announce the first in-person Devon Community Resilience Forum event for 2 years. The event is an opportunity for communities involved in Resilience planning to celebrate the successes of the last few years, increase their learning about what to do in flooding and other emergencies and network with like-minded people.
We are looking forward to welcoming communities from around Devon to Filleigh village hall in North Devon, on Monday 23rd May, from 9.30-4pm. There will be plenty of opportunities for networking, finding out about Resilience work in Devon and trying out products, as well as indulging in a tasty buffet lunch made with ingredients almost entirely from local suppliers. We are also planning on recording sessions for anyone who is unable to come to the venue on the day.

As part of the celebration of Devon’s resilience, we would like communities to identify one volunteer who has really made a difference during the challenging times of the last few years. They might have been instrumental in getting a community resilience group off the ground or gave their time to reach out to vulnerable members of the community during lockdown. Six volunteers will be chosen to receive an award at the event; to nominate someone from your community, send in a paragraph highlighting what the person has done that has really made a difference, accompanied by any photos, videos etc. A panel of Resilience Forum officers will choose the 6 volunteers who have gone above and beyond over the last few years, despite difficult circumstances. One nominee will be chosen to receive a prize of £100 towards purchases for the local community for emergency planning – maybe some equipment or a team-building session for the community emergency response team?!
If you are nominating a volunteer for an award, please send a brief paragraph giving their name and some details about their work in the community particularly since the start of the pandemic (plus any photos if they are ok with that). [email protected]
