Seasonal cut flower arrangements have been part of the story of Knightshayes House since the family lived here. If you love flowers and flower arranging you could be part of this beautiful tradition, adding enjoyment as people visit the house.

You’d also be joining Europe’s largest conservation charity and the wider National Trust team proudly looking after 780 miles of coastline, over 250,000 hectares of land, over 500 historic houses, castles, ancient monuments, gardens, parks and nature reserves (including lighthouses, villages, pubs and a gold mine!). We are a unique charity welcoming millions of people each year and with a vision to open up places for the benefit of everyone, for ever.
What’s involved?
· Working with flowers and foliage harvested from our gardens
· Arranging flowers for display in the house
· Being part of a team of other arrangers, sometimes working on arrangements together
· Working closely with the cut flower harvesting volunteers to make the most of what’s available each season
· Helping us to evolve and improve the way we arrange, making it environmentally responsible as well as beautiful.
· Getting to know the basics of caring for the house and collection and how flowers fit within these
· Getting to know security, health and safety and evacuation procedures.
· Being part of a team that may need to adapt and change in response to local needs, National Trust priorities or changes to government guidelines e.g .Covid
We want all our volunteers to feel welcome and to have an equally positive experience when volunteering with us. So, volunteers will:
· Be provided with the necessary induction, training, equipment and reasonable adjustments to do this role well and safely
· Be offered expenses to cover agreed travel costs between home and place of
volunteering.
· Have remote access to support, news and rotas via our volunteer website
This role will suit you if you are …
· Experienced in flower arranging and hoping to share your skills or interested in learning more about flower arranging.
· Happy to work as part of a team
· Creative and interested in decorating for events
· Open to learning a bit about collections care
· Available to volunteer on Tuesday and Friday mornings
All National Trust volunteers will be asked to

· Complete training required of all NT volunteers and any role specific training
