Offering enabling sessions to young people is a vital way to support their mental health and overall well-being, helping them to access opportunities and experiences that they may not be able to engage in without guidance. These sessions can take many forms, such as making use of community spaces to build confidence and connection, enjoying animal walks and explorations to reduce stress and encourage mindfulness, or engaging in card games and board games to promote social interaction and problem-solving. Incorporating a young person’s special interests allows the support to feel personal and motivating, while activities such as travel training and the development of life skills provide them with greater independence and resilience. Together, these approaches create a safe, supportive environment where young people can thrive and build the tools they need for everyday life.
