A night of new & eclectic music at Exeter Library, co-produced with Obvious Events. With feature sets from folk artist Angeline Morrison, etheral R&B artist SonyEchko & more acts TBA.

Angeline Morrison is a folk singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose 2022 album ‘The Sorrow Songs : Folk Songs of Black British Experience’ was No 1 Folk Album of the year in The Guardian. The album uses history and imagination to tell stories of UK Black ancestors in the sonic style of traditional folk music. Angeline explores traditional song with a deep reverence and handmade sonic aesthetic. Making her TV debut on ‘Later..with Jools Holland’, Angeline has recently appeared at many festivals including London Jazz Festival, Glastonbury and Brighton Festival.

‘Morrison's courage in reconstructing folk repertoire is truly revolutionary’

- New Internationalist

SonyEchko is a London based ethereal RnB artist. Combining elements of Neo-soul chords with electronic sound selection, he aims to create dreamy landscapes. Inspired by artists like FKA Twigs and Frank Ocean, he has recently been exploring an afrofuturistic sound, exploring his Ghanaian roots.

Dead Cherub are a local 4-piece indie rock pop band, formed just over two years ago. Think Pixies meets Mitski but throw in some modern punk covers alongside. Expect melodic bass riffs, crunchy guitar sounds and transcendent allegorical lyrics.

Obvious Events is an events promotion company run by young people with the goal to support young people. Music is a huge part of our community and of young peoples lives and it is our joy to give young people opportunities to shine and share their diverse music tastes and creations with the world!

Tickets are £7.00 or £5.00 for any self selecting concessions. There will be a bar with soft drinks and alcohol avaliable.
