The Public Health team at Devon County Council commissions an integrated Healthy Lifestyle Service called One Small Step. The current arrangement ends on the 31st October 2023 and we are thinking about what a future Healthy Lifestyle Service needs to look like.
The current service supports people to stop smoking, be more active, maintain a healthier weight and reduce alcohol consumption, and also delivers a number of training programmes to local organisations. We recognise that the future service needs to evolve to focus on some of the wider aspects of health and wellbeing and presents an opportunity to develop a whole person approach in the support offered. Through building networks of support and supporting community resilience, we want to work collaboratively to address the wider determinants of health, focussing most on those areas and groups where the poorest health outcomes are experienced.
As system partners we want to hear from our VCSE colleagues from across Devon and ask them to help us answer some key questions:
In your experience delivering health and wellbeing activities:
• What approaches work well in communities and why?
• How do you measure the success and impact of these approaches?
• How does the sector collaborate and build relationships with new partners and what works well?
• What would a service specification need to look like to allow innovative and flexible approaches; achieving outcomes that matter to people?
We are inviting you to attend an online Round Table discussion on Tuesday 13th December 2pm – 3.45pm via Microsoft Teams and would really like you to be involved and share your knowledge and experience with us. Please use the following link to register:
