Session Themes:

  1. Editing & Structuring a story (25th April 2024):

This week we delve into the world of short story writing, with special guest facilitator and fantastic local author Linda Lewis.

  1. Creative Nonfiction (23rd May, 2024):
This week we’ll dip a toe into the world of biography, memoir and journalism, as well as looking at some real life live storytelling, such as The Moth

  1. Dialogue (6th June, 2024):
The do’s and don’ts of good dialogue writing. We’ll focus on building a scene and creating tension by using characters’ conversations, and looking at the work of Hemingway and others.

  1. How to Get Published with Carla Jenkins (20th June, 2024):
We’ll have a break from the usual Hub session this week for a talk and Q&A with Carla Jenkins; local published author and facilitator of the popular Raw Writing workshops. There will be a small fee to attend this talk. More details coming soon.

  1. Period Writing (4th July, 2024):
Forsooth! This week is all about Historical Fiction writing, worldbuilding, characters and continuity.

  1. Funny Verse (18th July, 2024):
In this final session before the Summer, we’ll think about how to inject a bit of fun and comedy into your writing, with a focus on poetry that’s silly, irreverent and surreal.

Facilitators: Each session will be led by Natalie from Exeter Library, with some special guest facilitators

Note: You don't need to attend all sessions; feel free to join any that interest you. However, spaces are limited, so be sure to book your spot in advance.

We look forward to seeing you at the Library for a fun & enriching writing experience.
