**Every Other Thursday Starting Thursday 25th April
Join us at Exeter Library for a series of free and informal writing sessions, perfect for creative writers of any type and ability. Dive into a world of inspiration, try new exercises, and share your work in a friendly and supportive group. Each week will have a new theme and focus, so there's something for everyone!

Session Themes:
- Editing & Structuring a story (25th April 2024):
This week is all about Killing Your Darlings! Try your hand at proofreading. Be ruthless. We’ll also look at tone, meaning, and narrative arc.
- Writing Short Stories with Guest Facilitator Linda Lewis (9th May 2024):
This week we delve into the world of short story writing, with special guest facilitator and fantastic local author Linda Lewis.
- Creative Nonfiction (23rd May, 2024):
This week we’ll dip a toe into the world of biography, memoir and journalism, as well as looking at some real life live storytelling, such as The Moth
- Dialogue (6th June, 2024):
The do’s and don’ts of good dialogue writing. We’ll focus on building a scene and creating tension by using characters’ conversations, and looking at the work of Hemingway and others.
- How to Get Published with Carla Jenkins (20th June, 2024):
We’ll have a break from the usual Hub session this week for a talk and Q&A with Carla Jenkins; local published author and facilitator of the popular Raw Writing workshops. There will be a small fee to attend this talk. More details coming soon.
- Period Writing (4th July, 2024):
Forsooth! This week is all about Historical Fiction writing, worldbuilding, characters and continuity.
- Funny Verse (18th July, 2024):
In this final session before the Summer, we’ll think about how to inject a bit of fun and comedy into your writing, with a focus on poetry that’s silly, irreverent and surreal.
Facilitators: Each session will be led by Natalie from Exeter Library, with some special guest facilitators
Note: You don't need to attend all sessions; feel free to join any that interest you. However, spaces are limited, so be sure to book your spot in advance.
