Could you support witnesses when they come to court? This fascinating volunteering role provides great insight into the criminal justice system and experience of helping others.
Our volunteers support witnesses and their friends and family. You’ll give them practical information about the process, as well as emotional support to help them feel more confident when giving evidence.
We’re looking for volunteers who have a friendly and empathetic manner towards others. No previous experience or knowledge of court processes necessary as full training is provided.
You will have good listening and communication skills. We’re also looking for people who are non-judgemental and impartial.
We are looking for volunteers who can offer a weekday per week (9-5) but are open to suggestions for more flexible arrangements. The expectation is for you to volunteer for at least 12 months after the training as an accredited volunteer, but please let us know if you are unsure if you can offer this. Local travel and lunch are reimbursed.
Our volunteers come from a range of backgrounds and we particularly welcome applications from people with physical or mental health conditions, and people from Black Asian Minority Ethnic (Global Majority) and LGBTQIA+ communities. We are committed to offering a welcoming and inclusive environment to witnesses, staff, and volunteers
