If you are looking for an opportunity to get involved with delivering high quality patient care, and you have 3 hours a week or more to volunteer, then maybe our Care Volunteer Programme is for you!
What is involved?
Our Care Volunteer Programme takes place during term time with cohorts starting each April and September.
- Our September cohort is now open for applications
- Please note - this Programme is not just for students.
- It is open to anyone over the age of 16 who has completed school Year 11
- There are a limited number of places available per cohort, so get your application in to secure your place.
Upon a successful application, you will be invited to take part in an initial Induction session, which takes place on the morning of Saturday 7th September. You will learn some core care principles and you will gain a better understanding whether this Programme is for you, before you commit to the full programme.
The programme runs for approximately 10 - 14 weeks, aiming to give you a minimum of 48 hours supporting our Bedded Unit and Community Teams. We would ask you to be volunteering for a minimum of 3 hours per week. Day and time of your shift to be agreed at the start of the Programme.
What's in it for you?
- The knowledge you will be directly assisting our staff to care for our patients
- You will be supported to complete a Care Volunteer workbook throughout the programme, learning some basic care skills and recording clinical skills and medical procedures. The workbook will be yours to keep.
- On completion of the programme, you will receive a Care Volunteer Certificate
- Opportunity to continue care volunteering beyond the programme
In order to apply you need to be:
- Minimum of 16 years of age and have completed Year 11 at school, or older.
- Interested in working in health and social care or becoming a Care Volunteer.
- Motivated to help our teams deliver high quality care
We really value the time all our volunteers give to us and you will be making a real difference to our patients and their families at their most vulnerable time.
