Join us at Quince Honey Farm on Saturday 24th June to get your hands dirty, support wildlife and discover the joy of building with cob!
Cob is a mixture of sandy-sub soil, clay and straw and is the most sustainable ‘eco’ form of building there is. Since cob is made of the earth it is also entirely recyclable and non-polluting! In this workshop you will learn the basics of cob wall-building using 2 methods, as well as cob brick-making, and you will build your own bee hotel to take home with you. Bee hotels, which are normally made from wood, are designed to provide a home for solitary bees. However, cob is infinitely better and is known to be highly attractive as a shelter and nesting spot for solitary bees and other important pollinating insects! By building your very own eco bee hotel, made from cob, you can help these solitary bees to find a good home.
Come along to this unique workshop, that is not only fun but will also support wildlife by creating habitat for insects and bees alike!
