About Us

Devon Healing Horsemanship (DHH) is a registered charity dedicated to transforming the lives of children, young people, and adults who face mental health challenges, sensory or emotional disabilities, and problematic behaviors.

Using our unique equine-assisted interventions, we teach participants life-changing skills such as calmness, confidence, and communication—offering hope and resilience to those who haven’t progressed with traditional therapies. We work in partnership with schools, social workers, mental health teams, and other professionals to support some of the most vulnerable individuals in Devon.

Our mission is to create a safe, supportive space where participants can thrive, and we’re looking for trustees to help guide and grow our organisation.

Why Join Us as a Trustee?

Being a trustee at DHH is an opportunity to:

  • Make an Impact: Help shape the strategic direction of a charity that transforms lives.
  • Bring Your Expertise: Contribute your skills and knowledge to a dynamic, forward-thinking organisation.
  • Learn and Grow: Gain experience in charity governance while collaborating with a passionate and dedicated team.
  • Feel Fulfilled: Be part of a mission that creates hope, builds resilience, and changes lives for the better.

What You’ll Do

As a trustee, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the governance and strategic direction of DHH, ensuring the charity continues to deliver its mission effectively and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shape the strategic direction of DHH, ensuring it aligns with our mission and values.
  • Provide oversight of the charity’s operations, financial health, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and challenge the CEO and leadership team to achieve the charity’s goals.
  • Monitor organizational performance against agreed outcomes and targets.
  • Act as an ambassador for DHH, championing our work through personal and professional networks.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences. You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Share our passion for improving mental health and well-being.
  • Are committed to supporting a small charity with big ambitions.
  • Are collaborative, non-judgmental, and pragmatic in your approach.
  • Are willing to advocate for DHH and promote its work in your networks.

Previous trustee experience is not essential—we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Time Commitment

  • 4 x Trustee Board Meetings per year (2 hours each, held remotely).
  • 1 x Annual General Meeting.
  • Occasional time to review documents or provide advice, averaging 2 hours per month.

How to Apply

To express your interest, contact Louise Broadway, CEO, at [email protected] by 14th December with a brief note of interest.
