Second World War Historian and Author Andrew Chatterton will be discussing his book 'Britain's Secret Defences'. Andrews fascinating book discusses the history of the highly trained and ruthless civilian volunteers secretly trained across Britain to be deployed in the case of a German invasion. Tickets are free for members of the Friends of the Railway Studies Collection, or £2 on the door (cash only) for non-members.
This event is part of the Our Freedom: Then and Now programme, a new UK-wide, locally-led arts and creative programme which will produce 60 new pieces of work reflecting on what ‘Our Freedom’ means to local people and their communities, following the 80th anniversary of VE/VJ Day.
