Empowering local people to champion nature and coproduce solutions to shared environmental and social challenges.

Biosphere Communities empowers groups and individuals to champion nature’s recovery in their local area and coproduce sustainable solutions to the shared environmental and social challenges faced across our communities in North Devon and Torridge.The project is starts in 2024 and is funded for the next four years by the National Lottery Climate Action Fund.

Our team of four ‘Community Animators’ will coproduce programmes with the communities of Bideford, Appledore, South Molton, Ashreigney and Chumleigh. We aim to develop community-led climate action that is further reaching, better connected, better equipped and more resilient; stronger green career pathways and a larger green economy with more opportunities for local young people; communities that are increasingly nature-rich and better placed to tackle and mitigate the climate challenge; and community hubs which can access expert advice and cascade support and links out to the wider community.

We plan to involve further communities in the project as it develops.
