I am seeking to return to the job market and reassess my transferable skills. I experienced a sudden cardiac arrest in 2021 and acquired a hypoxic brain injury as a consequence. I have made a remarkable recovery but my skills are different now, notably affected by mild cognitive impairment and fatigue. Previously I was Head of Performance with NHS Devon, a role I chose to leave through voluntary redundancy when the organisation was restructuring. Prior to that I have been Head of Business Intelligence at a hospital in Sussex and held senior IT and analytic roles with hospitals and the hospice in Somerset. I also established a profitable gardening business serving a number of private estates on the Quantocks, and worked in telecommunications maintenance and staff representation with GCHQ for 14 years. My favourite job was as a wedding chauffeur in Somerset driving cars from the 1920’s, a role I held for 20 years and many hundreds of weddings. I want to be useful and believe parts of my past careers will be demonstrable and valuable, I just need the opportunity to exhibit them in a supportive environment.
