What activities might you be involved in?

We have two warehouses; one housing our seasonal donated stock managed by our Retail Logistics Team, and another housing our eBay operation managed by our E-Commerce Team. Both offer various tasks and an opportunity to learn and develop new or existing skills whilst supporting our service.

Retail Logistics Warehouse - support and learn about the logistics side of our retail operation and assist with the movement of stock. Tasks include:

  • Driver's mate assisting with deliveries and collections to and from DAA premises across the county
  • Loading and unloading of the retail van
  • Moving stock around the warehouse
  • Help to keep a safe and organised environment

eBay Warehouse - learn more about online selling and research the weird and wonderful items our supporters donate. Tasks include:

  • Sorting donations and quality control
  • Researching items to find their value
  • Uploading content and images, and listing items on eBay
  • Photographing items
  • Help to keep a safe and organised environment

No experience is necessary as full training and an induction will be given.

When can I volunteer?

This is a flexible role to fit with your lifestyle and around other commitments. Whether you can offer one hour or one day, your time and support are hugely valuable. Our warehouse operating hours are 9-5 pm Monday to Friday at Marsh Barton, Exeter.

You can choose to support both or just one warehouse. Please note, the Retail Logistics Warehouse tasks require a degree of manual handling, as donations come in all shapes and sizes. Volunteers need to be physically fit and able to move heavy / bulky items.

What can we offer you?

  • Join a warm and friendly team of like-minded people
  • Full training and ongoing support are provided
  • Reasonable adjustments to make the role accessible for you
  • Reasonable out of pocket expenses in line with our guidance

Volunteering is hugely rewarding and allows you to connect to your community and support others by raising important funds. Even helping out with the smallest tasks can make a real difference to the people of Devon and help save lives! It’s a great way to give something back to your local community by sparing as little as one hour a week.

Tell us what your interests and future aspirations are, and we'll try and match you to the best role!
