Hospiscare is looking for Bereavement Teas Volunteers based in the Community in ;
Axminster - The second Thursday of each month from 14.00 – 16.00 at The Waffle House
Okehampton - The third Wednesday of each month from 10.00 - 12.00 at The Red Lion Cafe
About the Bereavement Teas Role:
Volunteers run our support groups in various locations across the Exeter, Mid and East Devon. Volunteers support the bereaved, by offering a listening ear in a relaxed atmosphere. These sessions offer people an opportunity to drop in and be part of a group for as long as they need to.
Typical activities include:
- Work with the Supportive Care Team to organise regular groups.
- Provide supportive listening to those who attend the groups.
- Communicate any risks identified/significant worries to a member of the Supportive Care Team
- Attend quarterly team meetings.
What we’re looking for:
- Use Zoom to attend supervision and team meetings
- Provide a non-judgemental listening ear
- Listen and not attempt to ‘counsel’ or offer advice.
- Show empathy and reliability
What we offer:
- Monthly supervision and quarterly team meetings
- A named line manager
- all the training and support you need to be fully equipped to volunteer safely and effectively.
- An experienced ‘buddy’ to help you settle in
- Regular contact with the supportive care team
- Informal supervision as needed should there be difficult/challenging support /interactions
- Informal review after six months of volunteering
- Volunteering review after three years of volunteering
- Reimbursement of travel and out of pocket expenses
The Bereavement Volunteer role is suited to people who have experience in a caring role, either professionally or personally. You will be supporting individuals and their families in the community.
