Paignton Memory Cafe, is a volunteer run community group for people with Dementia and their carers.
We run every Thursday, between 2pm and 4pm and we are currently looking for an extra volunteer or two, to come along, preferably every week, but there is no commitment to that, to help out with a fun couple of hours.
In the main it's nothing strenuous and the only criteria is to be friendly and caring with an ability to talk to people and possibly serve teas and coffees.
However, we do have to set up tables and chairs and put them away again at the end of the session and as the majority of our volunteers are aged 80-90, I am looking for someone younger who would be able and happy to do this. I am a middle aged woman of reasonable fitness and I can do it no problem, but if I'm not there for any reason, which will be the case for some of the upcoming summer season, then I need someone who can do it for me.
If there is anyone who did not want to (or couldn't) stay for the whole session, but would be happy to just come and set up and put away again, that would be absolutely fine. Then the times would be 1pm and just after 4pm.
