Our volunteers support witnesses (including victims) and their friends and family when they come to court. You’ll give them practical information about the process, as well as emotional support to help them feel more confident when giving evidence.
We’re looking for volunteers who have a friendly, mature and empathetic manner towards others. You need to have good listening and verbal communication skills. We’re also looking for people who are non-judgemental and impartial in supporting all people.
No previous experience or knowledge of court processes necessary as full training provided. Excellent insight into the criminal justice system and experience of supporting others through a difficult time. We are looking for volunteers who can offer a week day per week (9-5) and could stay for a period of 3 months followed by as period as an accredited volunteer. The expectation is that that volunteers can complete 12 months after training but please let us know if you're unsure you can offer this. Local travel and lunch reimbursed.
Our volunteers come from a range of backgrounds and we particularly welcome applications from people with physical or mental health conditions, and people from Black Asian Minority Ethnic (Global Majority) and LGBTQIA+ communities.
